Almost everyone has an email account out there that they use less for some reason or the other. Mine ends with @live.nl. Consolidating al those email accounts out there will definitely make it much easier to keep track.

Gmail is at this moment my web mail application of choice, so i wanted to forward the mail which i received in my live account to my regular Gmail account..

Well, that easier said than done.

The steps to follow are supposedly (based on the Live help function):

Forward your e-mail to another address
You can forward e-mail that’s sent to your Windows Live Hotmail Inbox or custom folder to another hotmail.com, MSN.com, Live.com, or Windows Live Admin Center e-mail address.

By default, forwarding isn’t enabled in Windows Live Hotmail. To forward your mail to another e-mail address, you must enable the forwarding feature.

Enable forwarding
Sign in to the Windows Live Hotmail website with your Windows Live ID (The user name and password that you use to sign in to any Windows Live, MSN, or Office Live sites and services. If you have a Passport Network, Hotmail, or Messenger account, you can use it as your Windows Live ID.) .
In the upper-right corner of the page, click Options, and then click More options.
Under Manage your account, click Forward mail to another e-mail account.
On the Forwarding page, click Forward your mail to another e-mail address.
In the address field, type the e-mail address where you want to forward your e-mail to, and then click Save.
Sign in to the e-mail account that you want to forward your e-mail to, open the e-mail message that asks you to verify your account, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

The problem is in the last part of the first paragraph:

You can forward e-mail that’s sent to your Windows Live Hotmail Inbox or custom folder to another hotmail.com, MSN.com, Live.com, or Windows Live Admin Center e-mail address.

What??? This means that i can only forward it to email accounts which are on the Microsoft domain? This is incredible, and really irritates me. This way I’m forced to keep an live account for this reason.

I find it completely strange that there is no way you can have your email forwarded to another account, for example gmail, or even a custom account..

Anyone any tips on how to do this?
