Just finished reading Nocturne. Another novel about the 87th precinct. As detective stories go there is a murder involved . Well, two actually. Murder one is an old lady found in her bathrobe clutching a bottle of booze. The other is a prostitute. The second murder leads to two other murders.
The detectives start investigating the murders. They finally solve murder one. At least the found the guy that murdered the old lady. Whether he is guilty of murder one as they call it never gets clear. The story ends before it is finished actually.
The second murder has, in my opinion, just been entered to fill up some pages. There is a murder, the reader knows what happened.. but the detectives have no idea. This stays right up to the end.
This left me quit dissatisfied with the story. I always want the book to have an ending. This one definitely does not. Now you keep wondering if murder two will get solved or not. The story ends with the detectives being quite close, but you have no idea whether they will indeed get this far.
