Today was “dodenherdenking”. The day in which we honor and remember all those that have fallen in wars and peacekeeping missions since the second world war.
All around the country there are functions in which flowers are placed. the biggest one is at the war memorial on “de dam” in amsterdam. Here, the queen lays down her flower aureole (?) and so do a lot of other dignataries. At 8 pm exactly the world freezes and two minutes of silence to honor the death.
I always watch the televised proceedings, and take time to remember. Not just those who died in WWII, but also all others.. This is a moment of thought. It is strange and in some way very touching to see that a lot of people take these two minutes…
This is my expression on the web of these two minutes.. I hope everyone took the time to reflect…and hopefully it will have some impact on the world..
